The University of London provides scholarships to students from developing countries who are financially handicapped, one of those scholarships is the B.S Chimni Scholarship. The B.S Chimni Scholarship is an award to celebrate the achievements of the renowned international law expert Professor B.S Chimni. The University of London has established this prestigious scholarship for the MA in Refugee Protection and Forced Migration Studies by distance-learning and seeks to support an outstanding student who might not otherwise be able to gain access to the MA in Refugee Protection, and is resident in one of the following: India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Philippines and Indonesia.

The University of London is a federal public research university located in London, England, United Kingdom. The university was established by royal charter in 1836 as a degree-awarding examination board for students holding certificates from University College London and King's College London and "other such other Institutions, corporate or unincorporated, as shall be established for the purpose of Education, whether within the Metropolis or elsewhere within our United Kingdom". Eligibility

To be eligible, you must satisfy all of the following:

  • Have the offer of a place on the MA in Refugee Protection and Forced Migration Studies by distance-learning
  • Be resident in one of the following countries: India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Philippines and Indonesia
  • Demonstrate outstanding academic merit or potential in the field of study, evidenced particularly by past achievements
  • Hold an undergraduate degree (e.g. bachelor) that is comparable to a UK upper second class honours degree, in law or other relevant subject
  • Be unable to take up the offer of a place on the MA in Refugee Protection and Forced Migration Studies due to financial circumstances.

Application Instructions

  • All applicants who receive a letter offering them a place on the MA in Refugee Protection will be invited to apply for the B.S Chimni Scholarship, subject to meeting the eligibility criteria.

  • The scholarship application is submitted via an online form 
  • Applicants also provide a short statement of their motivation in applying to the MA Programme and for the scholarship
  • Scholarship application deadline: 17 August 2024.
