Scholarship Overview
The Aga Khan Foundation International Scholarships offer a unique opportunity for outstanding students from select developing countries who lack the financial means to pursue their postgraduate studies. Aimed at fostering the development of future scholars and leaders, the scholarships are designed to prepare beneficiaries for employment, primarily within the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN). Offering support for Master's and Ph.D. degrees, the scholarships emphasize fields that align with the AKDN's focus areas, such as health, education, rural development, and more.

Eligible students can pursue their studies at any highly reputable university worldwide, with the exception of institutions in the UK, Germany, Sweden, Austria, Denmark, Netherlands, Italy, Norway, and Ireland.

Scholarships are available for students aiming to undertake Master's or Ph.D. programs in a wide range of development-related disciplines, including but not limited to health, education, culture, rural development, economic development, and agriculture.
Scholarship Value
The Aga Khan Foundation assists with tuition fees and living expenses on a 50% grant and 50% loan basis. For Ph.D. programs, funding is provided for the first two years. Financial aid is tailored to the student's needs, encouraging applicants to secure additional funding to minimize the request from the Foundation.
Eligibility
Applicants must be nationals of specific developing countries, demonstrate excellent academic records, genuine financial need, and admission to a reputable university or program. The Foundation prioritizes candidates under 30 with relevant work experience and clear educational and career plans. Priority is given to Master’s level courses, with Ph.D. support in exceptional cases.
Application Instructions
Interested candidates should first secure an offer from their chosen university. Application forms can be obtained from Aga Khan Foundation offices or Aga Khan Education Services/Boards in the applicant's country of residence. Completed applications must be returned to the issuing agency, not directly to Geneva. The application cycle for the 2024-2025 academic year opens in January 2024, with a deadline of March 31, 2024.
