Scholarship Overview

For the upcoming academic year, the LSHTM is offering two full scholarships for distance learning MSc programs. These scholarships are open to students from all countries, providing a unique opportunity for those aiming to further their education in public health and tropical medicine without the need to relocate to the UK.

Host Institution

The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine stands at the forefront of public health and tropical medicine education globally. With a legacy of over a century in advancing research and education, LSHTM has embraced distance learning since 1998, facilitating flexible educational pathways for students worldwide.

Scholarship Details

The First Generation Scholarship is specifically tailored for individuals commencing their study on a distance learning programme at LSHTM in the 2024-25 academic year. Recognizing the challenges faced by first-generation university students, this scholarship aims to reduce barriers to postgraduate education by providing full tuition fee support.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants for the LSHTM First Generation Scholarship must fulfill the following criteria:

  • Meet minimum English language requirements.
  • Hold an offer of admission for one of LSHTM’s distance learning MSc programmes of study by April 6, 2024.
  • Be the first in their family to enter higher education, where neither parent (biological, adoptive, or foster) or guardian(s) has graduated with a university degree.
  • Applicants who already possess a master's degree or a higher qualification are ineligible.

Scholarship Benefits

Recipients of the First Generation Scholarship will receive full coverage of their tuition fees. The scholarship is structured to support students in completing their program within five years of registration, facilitating a flexible and accommodating learning environment for those who balance their studies with other commitments.
